Receive presentation on results of the online survey concerning support for public safety improvements on Andrews Avenue and provide direction to City staff on both the scope of the project and approve direction concerning application for a Palm Beach County Transportation Planning Agency (TPA) Transportation Alternnatives (TA) Grant for the project, if approved to move forward.

Background:
Following constituent request, Public Works Staff was directed to investigate the potential for placement of sidewalks and bicycle paths along Andrews Avenue due to concerns about public safety and large numbers of residents required to walk in the roadway. The FY22-23 Capital Improvements Program budget has $125,683 approved from Gas Tax proceeds to perform a preliminary design / study, which includes determination of the extent of available public right of way to house the public safety improvements. The estimated cost of the total improvements over a 5-year period (estimated based on FY22 market values) is at just under $3.3 million, which exceeds the available annual funding from the Gas Tax proceeds. In order to secure adequate funding for the project, City staff determined that the project qualifies for a competitive grant for the TA through the TPA. A recommended prerequisite of this grant program is that a pre-application survey be completed indicating a majority of the community favors the project. The survey results will be presented for Commission consideration and further direction on how to proceed with the proposed project.
