RESOLUTION NO. 43-24: APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ADOPTION OF A STATEWIDE MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

Recommendation

Staff recommends the approval and execution of the Statewide Mutual Agreement as it replaces all previous iterations from the 2018 version. This agreement allows the City to request assistance for a major disaster or catastrophic disaster as defined in section 252.34, Florida Statues, minor disasters, and other such emergencies as lawfully determined by a participating party.

 

Body

Background:

The City of Delray Beach Fire Rescue Department has assisted the Florida Department of Emergency Management in Statewide assistance with natural disasters in the past. With an executed agreement the city has been entitled to receive reimbursement. The Fire Department is also one of the Statewide Hazardous Material Teams and currently receives sustainment assistance from the State Homeland Security Grant Program. 

 

City Attorney Review:

Approved as to form and legal sufficiency.

 

Funding Source/Financial Impact:

There is no financial impact upon entering into an agreement, in the event of one-party requesting assistance the City is entitled to receive reimbursement for costs incurred stated in the agreement.

 

Timing of Request:

The execution of the agreement by March 1, 2024.
