Recommended Action:

Special Events Technical Advisory Committee (SETAC) recommends the Development Services Management Group (DSMG) make a motion to approve the special event known as 2024 App Delray Beach Open to be held on April 3-7, 2024; and authorize the Special Event Manager (SEM) to take all actions necessary to effectuate the Special Event Permit.

 

Body

Background:

The APP, LLC submitted a Special Event Permit Application on November 14, 2023 to hold the 2024 APP Delray Beach Open Pickleball Tournament.  This is an amateur and professional event.  The event was last held in 2022 and is a National Tour and is held in 12-16 markets per year.  The event is expected to draw about 500 people per day and a total of about 2500 for the event. The event will take place from 8am - 8pm daily. The APP is invested in executing a best in class pickleball event in Delray Beach and supporting local businesses and community.

 

Special Event Technical Advisory Committee (SETAC)

SETAC recommends DSMG approve the event.

No special conditions are recommended by SETAC

 

Funding Source/Financial Impact:

Anticipated city costs to the event producer to be determined.

 

Timing of Request:

The event is quickly approaching and the event producer would like to open registration.
