Title

APPROVAL OF AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO EXTEND THE TERMS OF AGREEMENT NO. L2202 (POMPEY PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT) MADE BETWEEN THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH

Body

Recommended Action:

Recommendation

Motion to approve Amendment No. 2 to extend the grant project completion date to October 31, 2024, and grant term to December 31, 2024.

Body

Background:

On November 8, 2022 the CIty entered into the agreement with the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for specific upgrades and purchases for Pompey Park and Pool not to exceed $935,000.

Due to the increase in costs and the scope of the work, the Parks and Recreation Department requested an additional six (6) months to advertise and solicit for pool resurfacing and to obtain quotes for additional repairs and services.

On April 18, 2023 the City Commission approved Amendment No.1 to extend completion date to April 30, 2024 and the grant period to June 30, 2024.

The Parks and Recreation Department has been diligently working with finding vendors to resurface and drain the existing pool at Pompey Park, replace lighting in the pool to meet current standards, replace filters and sand, and install a Lightning Detection System. The Department is requesting additional time to procure these items and services.
