Background:
This is a proposed amendment to the Education Board ordinance that clarifies the board composition, size, duties, and responsibilities.The ordinance seeks to reduce the number of Education Board size from thirteen members to seven members, with each appointed member representing a Delray Beach Public School. The ordinance also seeks to amend the qualifications of Education Board members, requiring each appointee to be either a parent or educator from each of the Delray Beach Public Schools. Finally, the ordinance seeks to clarify the duties and responsibilities of the Education Board to ensure continuous educational advocacy through the strategic planning of quality education initiatives.
The purpose of the amended ordinance is to strengthen partnerships with the School District of Palm Beach County and align strategies to support the achievement of all students.
