RATIFICATION OF AN EMERGENCY PURCHASE TO SOUTHERN SEWER EQUIPMENT SALES FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DEBRIS TANK ON VACCON SEWER VAC TRUCK #6185
Body
Recommended Action:
Recommendation
Motion to Ratify an emergency purchase to Southern Sewer Equipment Sales in the amount of $32,126.65 for the replacement of the debris tank on VacCon sewer truck #6185, assigned to the ESD Storm Water Maintenance Department.
Body
Background:
On November 30, 2016 City Manager approved an emergency acquisition to repair the VacCon Sewer Truck #6185. The debris tank required immediate replacement due to an internal collapse resulting from age and weakening of the structural integrity of the tank. This is a heavily used piece of machinery, critical to the function of cleaning storm drains throughout the City. The cost for the replacement of the debris tank is $32,126.65. Southern Sewer Equipment Sales is the sole authorized VacCon dealer in Florida. Under the circumstances, staff recommended that this work be considered an emergency situation to be performed as soon as possible and authorization was provided by the City Manager to proceed.
This recommendation complies with the City Code of Ordinances, Chapter 36, Section 36.02(C)(5), "Emergency Acquisitions".
