98 NW 5th AVENUE RENOVATION - APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER
Recommended Action:
Approve the change order request from Waypoint Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $131,635 for the purposes of completing necessary structural repairs.
Background:
On May 25, 2021, the CRA Board awarded ITB 2021-03 for the renovation of 98 NW 5th Avenue (Project) to Waypoint Contracting, Inc. (Waypoint) in the amount of $1,925,000. An Agreement between the CRA and Waypoint was executed on October 20, 2021 (Agreement.)
On January 25, 2022, the CRA Board approved a change order request from Waypoint in the amount of $225,582.60. Waypoint stated that the purpose of that change order request reflected the current market conditions. A First Amendment to the Agreement was executed on February 22, 2022, to increase the Contract Price to $2,150,582.60.
On June 28, 2022, Waypoint submitted a change order request for $131,635. The purpose of this change order request is for materials and labor to perform necessary structural repairs to the building, specifically, repairs to the existing columns, existing concrete overhang, and existing hollow core concrete slab. The repairs that are needed were not initially contemplated in the construction drawings and were not known and/or discovered until Waypoint commenced work on the Project.
At this time, CRA Staff is requesting the CRA Board to approve the change order request from Waypoint Construction, Inc. in the amount of $131,635.
