Motion to approve Resolution No. 131-21 to award an Agreement to Airgas Specialty Products, Inc., for the purchase and delivery of anhydrous ammonia in the estimated amount of $38,700 through June 8, 2022, utilizing the Palm Beach County, Florida Solicitation No. 18-056/MB, and authorize the City Manager to approve renewal options, in the amounts below, contingent on appropriations of funds.

Background:
On May 14, 2018, the Palm Beach County Board of Commissioners awarded solicitation No. 18-056/MB to Airgas Specialty Products, Inc. for the purchase and delivery of anhydrous ammonia. The initial term of the agreement was for twelve (12) months and began on June 9, 2018 through June 8, 2019, with the option to renew for (4) four additional (12) month period(s). On May 1, 2019, the County exercised the first renewal option effective June 9, 2019 through June 8, 2020. On June 4, 2020, the County exercised the second renewal option effective June 9, 2020 through June 8, 2021. On May 10, 2021, the County exercised the third renewal option effective June 9, 2021 through June 8, 2022.

Anhydrous Ammonia (ammonia with water), in conjunction with chlorine, is used in water treatment process to produce potable water. When combined, these chemicals produce chloramines, which last longer than chlorine and offer consistent bacterial control. It also helps by regulating disinfectant by-products. This is a critical chemical used in the water treatment process.
